COUNTERING SANCTUARY CITIES MADNESS: LEGISLATION TO DENY THEM FEMA FUNDS PASSES IN THE HOUSE

Dot-Red.gif This is quite encouraging so of course the mainstream media isn’t paying too much — if any — attention to this news, very significant as to the House votes involved and what it indicates. The Rocky Mountain News — usually Liberal but in Tom Tancredo‘s home state of Colorado — reports the story:

TANCREDO WINS SURPRISE IMMIGRATION VOTE

Dot-Red.gif And from Tom Tancredo’s website, this Press Release about the legislation:

TANCREDO AMENDMENT TO CUT FUNDING FOR SANCTUARY CITIES PASSES WITH STRONG BIPARTISAN SUPPORT

What this legislation declares is that Homeland Security funds be denied locales that declare themselves to be “sanctuary cities.” Not expected to pass the Senate — few of us supporters anticipate that it could or would — what is telling about this is the House vote count. From blog, DAY IN, DAY OUT:

…”Surprise” Vote in House of Representatives: This morning, the House of Representatives passed an amendment to a funding bill for Homeland Security (H.R. 2638) proposed by Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Co) that would deny federal emergency services funding for “sanctuary cities” — cities which refuse to cooperate with the enforcement a variety of immigration laws. The Tancredo amendment passed 234 – 189…

Dot-Red.gif Thus, there is today a glimmer of hope about — and a huge response of gratitude to — the House of Representatives who is still representing U.S. voters. The Senate, alas, as with the White House, appears to have abandoned U.S. citizens a while ago in their efforts to service foreign governments and their citizens in our nation illegally, along with those in the U.S. who trade and profit in those illegal aliens (the conclusions of this are grim indeed as to what that says about the Senate and White House).

I don’t anticipate nor never have that Tom Tancredo would win the Presidency in 2008 (but a Vice President win would work if Tancredo continues to succeed like like he has of yesterday) but I support him for that Office for reasons just as these: he comes through when many fail and he persists when many abandon the goal.

I’m grateful to him, as I am to the U.S. House today, those Representatives from both political parties who have the wherewithall to consider WE THE PEOPLE, who oppose amnnesty for ilegal aliens and who continue to ask that our existing immigration and border security laws be enforced before any discussion as to “guest workers” and amnesty be considered.

Dot-Red.gif There is no national security without border and immigration security. The Senate, the White House, they are no longer credible that they’re concerned about national security when they devote loyalties to the likes of “immigration rights groups” (whose identities are rarely published but most voters can figure out who those groups are) and various business lobbyists in lieu of being of service to WE THE PEOPLE.

Thus, I continue to support Tom Tancredo because he is reliable as to what he believes in and he is accountable to the voters. Just look at what he’s accomplished today.

Dot-Red.gif UPDATE:

World Net Daily is now reporting the story:
Tancredo pulls plug on ‘sanctuary cities’ – Even Democrats throw support behind amendment to nix funds to local governments shielding illegals”
