AND HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
A wonderful website: AMERICA SUPPORTS YOU
It was interesting to read that United States Marines from 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion abd 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, “joined forces to show off their combined military prowess against evil aliens when filming a simulated and intense combat scene for the Steven Spielberg film ‘The War of the Worlds‘…”
I’ve always found Tom Cruise as actor quite compelling as work, and, despite the recent publicity overheat as to his couch enthusiasms and more, I haven’t been repelled by Cruise from viewing this film, nor deterred by any of his antics, past or present, and not even by his affiliations, but because I am quite fond of the original film and wasn’t eager to see a Spielberg “remake.”
However, what with the Marines involved, I’ve decided to see the film on the big screen (very, very big screen in my case) and not wait out it’s DVD release (as I was thinking I would — read about my initial hesitations, “INSTINCTS MATTER” but now I wonder if it was just dedication to the parochial), and to enjoy a 4th of July weekend without a critical perspective. About much of anything this weekend.
Because I am very, very grateful and appreciative of our United States Military. And for our United States: often raucous but still the best there is. And worth fighting for.
