SITE EDIT, 12/10/07 – This post is by former site contributor, “justaguy“, whose author title isn’t recreated on these republished posts of his after the site was upgraded to the use of MT 4.0 (his work was successfully imported and republished but his User Account was not, and, thus, this manual edit to identify the contributions on this blog by “justaguy“.)

In other words, “justaguy”‘s posts have been imported and republished using the site Admin. account, which is mine, “-S-”, although I did not write these posts.

Today is the feast day of the “Immaculate Conception.” It’s also the most misused phrase within the global lexicon. The “Immaculate Conception” has nothing to do with the belief that Jesus was miraculously conceived without a biological father (i.e. the “Virgin Birth”).

The “Immaculate Conception” deals with the belief that the Blessed Virgin Mary was preserved from the stain of original sin.

“He [Jesus] was the ark formed of incorruptible wood. For by this is signified that His tabernacle [Mary] was exempt from defilement and corruption” Hippolytus [A.D. 235].

“Come, then, and search out your sheep, not through your servants or hired men, but do it yourself. Lift me up bodily and in the flesh, which is fallen in Adam. Lift me up not from Sarah but from Mary, a Virgin not only undefiled but a Virgin whom grace had made inviolate, free of every stain of sin” Ambrose of Milan [A.D. 387].

“We must except the Holy Virgin Mary, concerning whom I wish to raise no question when it touches the subject of sins, out of honor to the Lord; for from Him we know what abundance of grace for overcoming sin in every particular was conferred upon her who had the merit to conceive and bear Him who undoubtedly had no sin” Augustine [A.D. 415]).

Another reason why I decided to address this subject was because of this ad campaign that was conducted by some individual…talk about distasteful…geez.

There’s that point of view in much of media at present that disdains morality. And, as an aspect of that, ridiculing morality and moral tenets is the source of grotesque entertainment. I’m enthused and enjoy comedy and humor probably more than most, but the momentum at present that is based upon ridiculing Christianity and all aspects of it — notice that’s upon what the ridicule is based, as to theme, source, topic and most often.

That advertising issue you linked is awful. Not even, remotely, approaching comedy. It’s outright hate, evil. As are people who create pieces like that, and yet who assume aimless, harmless positions about it. I guess what I’m saying is that I love comedy as an artform quite so much as to find people who abuse the artform — hate, most often as sarcasm, where love should be — repungnant. As I do this issue, even more so, those who attempted to use the Virgin Mary as a source of defilement. Truly horrible.
